II. THE THREE ARCS

How The Year Flows

OPENING

April

The year begins in spring. New growth. New projects. The threshold.

Unlike January, which starts in winter exhaustion, April begins when energy rises. The natural time for resolutions that actually stick.

CORE

May – December

Eight months of stable rhythm. Build momentum here.

The longest arc. Regular, predictable structure. Plan with confidence. Every month has exactly four weeks. No surprises.

CLOSING

January – March

Completion. Reflection. March bears the correction.

These months bring the year to resolution, not to begin anew, but to finish well. March contains the leap day correction.

III. THE WEEK

Planning Made Simple

In the Gregorian calendar, the 15th could be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday depending on the month. In HEKA, every month is identical. Within any single year, the 15th is the same weekday in every month.

THE HEKA WEEK

Saturday Start, Friday Finish

Saturday
Days 1, 8, 15, 22
Sunday
Days 2, 9, 16, 23
Monday
Days 3, 10, 17, 24
Tuesday
Days 4, 11, 18, 25
Wednesday
Days 5, 12, 19, 26
Thursday
Days 6, 13, 20, 27
Friday
Days 7, 14, 21, 28

"Within a single year, the 15th is the same weekday. Every month."

No calculation needed. No checking required. You just know.

Routine Planning

Schedule recurring meetings on the same date each month. "Every 10th" means every second Monday reliably.

Deadline Clarity

Projects due on the 25th always have the same amount of weekdays remaining. Planning becomes predictable.

Mental Ease

Free up cognitive resources. When the calendar is predictable, your mind can focus on what actually matters.

GREGORIAN
The 15th is...
Monday? Wednesday? Friday?
It changes every month.
VS
HEKA
The 15th is...
Same weekday every month.
Within each year.
IV. THE CORRECTION

March Bears The Adjustment

The solar year is approximately 365.25 days, not a whole number. Every solar calendar must account for this fractional day. HEKA places this adjustment entirely within March, isolating all irregularity to a single month.

SYNC MODE

The Bridge

March has 30 days when the next Gregorian year is a leap year. This keeps April 1st locked to civil April 1st forever. Best for coordinating with the Gregorian world.

TRUE MODE

The Deep Current

March has 30 days every 4th year except every 128th. Mean year: 365.242188 days. Matches the tropical year within 0.00001 days. For those who want the calendar and the sun to agree.

"The genius of HEKA's structure is isolation. Twelve months of perfect regularity. One month that bears the adjustment. The irregularity is not scattered across the year. It is contained, visible, and accounted for."
